Start with the Château of Pompadour, given by Louis XV to his favourite in 1745. Guided tours available year-round. Allow 1h30 to explore the stables, stud farm and grounds.

Afternoon: the racecourse and the surroundings

If you visit during the season (May-October), watch the horse races at the Pompadour racecourse — one of the few in France set within a château estate. Otherwise, enjoy a forest walk or visit nearby villages.
